General election ads begin with gas prices

Now that Santorum is out, Gingrich is being pretty much ignored and Paul continues to be ignored… it’s time for the Romney folks and all the super PACs to focus their attention on Obama. Romney and his supporters have already run ads targeting Obama but now we’ll start to see even more. So far, the focus has been on energy and gas prices.

I’m definitely digging the black paint splatters – which I assume are intended to represent oil.

This ad was in response to an Obama ad attacking Romney’s “Big Oil” connections.

As a first volley, it’s not all that intimidating. The problem for Obama is that conservative groups have spent months already framing the issue with millions in issue advertising on jobs and energy. He’s likely to be playing catch up because the spending so far has been heavily skewed in favor of conservative, business-oriented interest groups.
